A visitor from Austria posted Mon July 25, 2011: The 500 and 600 series of the A340 really make this plane stand out. I never really liked the look of the 200/300 series since its engines seemed like toys to me. These birds however have really nice looking big engines and a redesigned wing. An Austrian Airlines pilot told me once that the old ones (200/300) were like motor gliders and therefore were hard to handle on steep approaches, because their wings produce too much lift at times and having spoilers out on short final might not be the best idea.
