From a aviation point of view, there are four legs to go today.
I take a peek out of the window that early morning and see some lovely sunrays coming in, nice.
There are some more points of interest to view here.
For example that castle lookalike up the hill,
it´s called the Alcazaba.
And fit´s perfectly with these palm tree
Also when it´s early in the morning, no way to miss this place
Through these entrance
Where are my stirrups?
No, that´s the wrong direction for a panoramic view
Looks like pretty historic this way
Puerta de la Justicia
Nice water elements here
A view from above with the harbour in the background
I´am in China, definitely
The chinese wall en miniature
Ferry traffic inbound
I love these garden
The cathedral
City life en Espagna
Contrasts
A nice church
My internal clock tells me, I should have to go for the airport transfer bus.
So late, hurry up now. Thanx god, I´ve decided to write down the infrequent shuttle bus departure timetable and made it close to ontime.
The only other way would be an expensive taxi.
Service Iberia IB 8593 operated by Air Nostrum
Scheduled: 10.05 // 11.10
Arrived well ontime at these place, where the officials don´t see any need to show the name at the terminal, like most of the other place´s I´ve been before.
Well, MAD looks like favored today and strange to see two IB/AirNostrum departures within 45 minutes
This is the return from yesterdays inbound MAD-LEI, the fare managed by Fly.de is really good, 35.00 Euro´s.
OLCI works perfectly with IB´s website. Checked-in, but not printed, as usual.
Reminds me somewhat to MAD old´s terminal, ok it´s AENA and Spain anyway
Security was a breeze, no time to wait there with the
EZY flight served.
No lounge at LEI btw.
The gates clean so far and spacious enough for a view to the apron
Planes parking directly at the doors
For example this one
Or this cutie on taxi
The later flight is the straight back from MAD and my service is more or less the coastal hopper inbound from SVQ and turning around at MAD.
Looks like nice in the bright sun
Some clouds in direction Cabo del Gata
With a few rainshowers around
But looks like anyway a nice day to fly.
Boarding from gate 1, what else?
With a view back to the departure screen, imagine the effect with a number of these frequently travelled german retired couples at the gate.
"You´re booked on the later flight to Madrid".
"Madrid, yes, yes, Madrid".
"Sorry this is not you´re flight, it´s the later one!".
"Yes, Madrid, Madrid for us".
Should I take a seat till they fixed it?.
The agent directed the retires to the side of the gate desk and waved me in.
Good luck for her to fix the situation.
Frequently travelled german retires know it better, definitely!.
EC-IJF will have the honour to shuttle me back to MAD now.
This is the scheduled CR2
My 6th experience with the CR2 and the first time on a EC registered example.
The plane is in the air with Bombardier since 03.10.2002 and changed for AirNostrum at 04.11.2002.
25 200's are still in the fleet
What a tiny cargo compartment door
Now I know the name
Regionaljet style, definitely
10.00 am, short ahead to schedule, "NostruAir" is ready for the 1.00 hour to fly up to MAD. 19 partly cloudy degrees here.
A rolling take-off from the 3200 meters two-six, no need to stop these cute plane at the runway entrance.
Cockpit crew is from Spain, the captain with a very short welcome during taxi only. No route or flightlevel infos btw..
Sure, you know, where the tomatoes coming from
Winglet and clouds
Strange view, everything covered
Late boarding helps here once more, 3A and the aisle seat is open. With the middle aged FA´s, ok, but nothing special, approval I´ve decided for the self seat change mode here.
Load is very close to 100%.
The forward cabin
Legroom is ok here
The safety card confirmed the CR2
Service is free drinks this time.
Well used dark blue leather seats, to say the least
Not far from MAD
Touchdown at the 4100 meters three-three-left, 11.05 am, short ahead to schedule, 12 partly cloudy degrees here.
A final logo view
Looks like a new crew taking over
One more terminal change by now.
Much more relaxed than yesterday, with the next departure in the early afternoon.

OK, not by AF, but MAD anyway!

Service LX 2045 operated by Swiss
Scheduled: 15.00 // 16.55
Welcome back to the oldfashioned terminals 1/2/3.
Some minutes to wait till check-in opens. I´am sure you know the procedure, checked-in but not yet printed and no self service kiosks available here.
This time Lastminute.de wins my business. Five legs, three for today and two more later on in October, booked together with an 35.00 Euro´s average fare per leg. Not bad, isn´t it?. With LX known as an quality airline to fly on.
There is another lounge to visit now.
Olives and crackers
Roomy and less customers
The spanish people know how to manage a lounge
The buffet
Looks like comfy this way
And very nice apron views btw.
This is Mint Air with the 752
Skywork coming in on the DO328
LAN on taxi
Sweden or Spain
Helitt, now that´s something for me, maybe in October
And what´s this?
It looks like my plane
Parked at my finger gate
HB-IPV, the A319 like on schedule.
Leg no. 78 on type. I´am sure, this is a new registration
with not that much LX A319´s covered.
I´am sure, definitely, till I browse the "Destinations and Planes" log and finally see that exactly this example brought me from ZRH to FCO two years ago. No, I´am not amused
Ginebra today from gate D60
In the air since 14.02.1996 with Airbus Industries, Swiss and it´s predecessors. The fleet consists of seven planes on type only. "Castelgens" is the oldest example.
The plane is registered with an medical emergency priority descent on the very same route a couple of weeks ago
2.55 pm, short ahead to schedule, 1 hour, 30 minutes to go for "Swiss" from the 3500 meters three-six-right.
Leaving 15 partly cloudy degrees behind.
Cabin view from 35F, the second to last row window, late boarding doesn´t help today, all three seats taken
The load is 100%, no open seat to spot. Nothing else expected with this as one of the days when the IB pilotes decide to strike against the new IB Express Airline. Lots of rebookings, so it seems.
Cabin crew is an elder male purser, he´s approaching my seat. An upgrade?. No, but anyway a nice gesture. He welcomes me personally on his plane as a Senator Traveller.
There are also three female FA´s. All young, one of them really nice, cute, short black hair, good looking.
The others also nice. Well, it seems I like this Swiss "people" more then ever expected!.
The spotless clean safety card
Swiss for New Delhi
Cockpit crew is from Switzerland, the captain with a nice welcome after boarding is completed.
The FO with short info´s inflight and one more message short on finals, very good.
Legroom is much better here than on the same plane type by AF yesterday with the dark grey leather seats
Leaving Spain for LDE/TLS and LYS at a maximum of 38000 feet
"Guten Appetit", thank you, together with free drinks and the lovely chocolate later on
Approaching GVA
A kiss on the Swiss tarmac for me now by the 3500 meters runway zero-five. 4.40 pm, 15 minutes ahead to schedule, 12 cloudy degrees here.
Welcome to Ginebra/Geneve/Genf or who knows!.
Service Swiss LX 2817 operated by Swiss European Airlines
Scheduled: 18.15 // 19.05
No bad news for ZRH from gate A9, at least till now
So let´s go for a break to the Swiss Gold Lounge
Oh dear, this place is packed.
Is there anyone else around here than Star Gold members?. Ok, it´s Friday afternoon and the official folks heading homebound now
Nice offers
The staff working hard to restock food and drinks
What is these white stuff up on the peaks?
Luxair coming in
A gate change, let´s go for A6
I like to fly these F70 somedays
Well, 15 minutes more at GVA by now.
Have also a look for LCY, top of the board
Superstrange, while waiting at the gate there is B41 showing up for the ZRH service.
B41 is a Non-Schengen gate. The two elder females working are also surprised and told us immediatelly to stay here till further notice.
What´s going on?.
A good couple of more minutes later and also a bus transfer shows me this bird with definitely two engines to much than the scheduled A319.
Not that I´am complaining about to change an A319 for something else, as long as it is no A320!
HB-IXS is an RJ100. Leg no. 11 on type and this is finally also a new registration.
In service with Crossair and Swiss since 08.02.1996.
"Mont Velan" is one of the 20 examples still around with Swiss European
Should I worry about something here?.
Boarding ex ZRH for the final leg today is at 7.25 pm and I´am still sitting at GVA with 6.50 pm as shown on my camera.
Oh dear, there is definitely something to worry.
And no, I dislike to sit at ZRH till the late evening departure if I miss the scheduled service.
Ok, 35 minutes only to go for ZRH by "Euroswiss" from runway zero-five like arrivals. Leaving 12 cloudy degrees behind.
Legroom is ok at 12A, late boarding, you know and two for me in the end with a 70% load
Cockpit crew is from Switzerland. The captain with a nice welcome during boarding and a well explained situation around the delay.
The original scheduled plane goes tech and so they
decided to keep the unlucky LCY bound passengers for more delay and capture this Avro instead.
With lot´s of connecting pax for the late night departures ex ZRH it´s more important to carry us to our destination as soon as possible.
That´s also the reason for the absolutely non standard bus transfer and finger boarding for the plane parked at the Non-Schengen B gates.
The safety card is also clean here
Cabin view with the dark grey leather seats, clean so far
It seems I´am not really in a good mood along this flight
and that annoying couple of biz men in the row behind me doesn´t help.
Such a number of the dumbest jokes around, so loud that anyone is forced to hear it. I hate that behaviour.
Four engines cruising through the dawn
Cabin crew is two female FA´s. One middle aged and ok and one more of these young and really nice Swiss girls.
Service is water and chocolates.
No route or flightlevel info.
Sounds also special for the crew. Prepared for LCY and fly to ZRH instead.
Close to ZRH
Mixed emotions on approach to say the least
Short finals for the next or who knows service
Touchdown at the 3300 meters runway one-four. 7.35 pm, 30 minutes late and also 10 minutes after scheduled boarding for the next flight. 10 degrees and cloudy here.
Hurry up the airbridge now and what follow´s is something to completely dislike on a standard situation. But today?.

Service Swiss LX 1170 operated by Swiss European Airlines
Scheduled: 19.55 // 20.40
You know, no way flying the same reg twice.
But today I´am the lucky fellow with exactly my delayed inbound service is also on the same machine running delayed for my final leg today.
Not a single meter to walk and nothing more to worry.
Puhh, thanx god
Here it is, HB-IXS docked for STR at gate B39
Not to talk about any lounge visit in between here.
AB coming in at the gate beside
Just some lucky pictures of the plane while boarding
Four holes finally for STR
8.20 pm, 25 minutes late, "Euroswiss" is on the go for the 30 minutes STR bound from the 2500 meters runway two-eight.
Just departed and leaving 10 cloudy degrees behind
Leaving Switzerland now
Turning for STR
Just to confirm the plane type and this time it´s the scheduled RJ100. Lesson 12 on type and the second time here with this machine
And the legroom this way, 8F, three for me.
The complete crew has changed, one middle aged nice male together with one young nice female FA in the cabin.
Cockpit crew is from Switzerland, no stress to feel by the captain with the delay.
A very nice welcome, all crew is introduced by name,
a short takeoff message followed.
He´s later again on the mike in a very nice style, well done
Cabin view from another angle now. The load is 80%
Service is water and free chocolate.
No route or flightlevel info.
Well survived, to say the least, this negative connection time situation at ZRH.
Touchdown at STR´s zero-seven, 9.00 pm, 20 minutes late, 11 degrees and clear sky.
The young male FO is at the planes door while disembarking:
"Well done, good work to catch up some minutes from the delay".
"Thank you and with these nice cabin crew you never going wrong!".
And not that long thereafter back at my homebase.
Conclusions?. Sure!:
1. IB LEI-MAD: Ok, but nothing special.
2. LX MAD-GVA: Better as expected with the full load.
3. LX GVA-ZRH: Comfy but connection failed?.
4. LX ZRH-STR: The complete crew in a really good mood.
And now?.
A new country on schedule tomorrow:
FYROM, Macedonia or who knows and a couple of equiment changes!.
Adios, sure, comments welcome.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 2): But today I´am the lucky fellow with exactly my delayed inbound service is also on the same machine running delayed for my final leg today.

Yeah, a new registration might be good, but a missed flight is more of a hassle than getting a new reg. I'd've been happy with the zero-meter-walk to your next flight in ZRH.

Hola Markus!
Nice report as expected
Beautiful views from AlmerÃa, a place which I have never visited and seems pretty nice to spend a weekend there.
I kind of like Air Nostrum as they fly these cute CRJ-200s which seem to be great planes, I have never flown these tiny ones, I hope they perform as well as their bigger sisters: 700 / 900 which are really quiet and wonderful to fly.
The lounge you used at MAD was it the *A one? It used to be the JK one, good they kept it in use for *A members, in BCN they have closed it down and everybody is using the AENA lounge.
I was once at the Gold *A lounge at GVA and it was really packed as well, so it seems this is an everyday trend... no matter the time, better to use the Business lounge which seems to be more quiet and relaxed.
Glad you could make it at ZRH despite the delay, having the same machine helps.... heheheheh
Looking forward to meeting you next weekend in Berlin.
Salut!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): With lot´s of connecting pax for the late night departures ex ZRH it´s more important to carry us to our destination as soon as possible.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): But today I´am the lucky fellow with exactly my delayed inbound service is also on the same machine running delayed for my final leg today.
Your portion of good luck for the day. Kudos to Swiss for making that happen

Hi Markus,
Good to read about your return journey from Almeria. You couldn't simply go for a straight MAD-ZRH-STR but just had to do the additional leg via GVA, did you?
Swiss definitely looks better than Air France on the outbound journey.
Ahh, good to see that they don't have this bus boarding madness so many airports in this area suffer from - no matter whether it is ten or hundred meters - a bus ride it is!
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): "You´re booked on the later flight to Madrid".
"Madrid, yes, yes, Madrid".
Ahh, I've heard my fair share of these conversations. But IB definitely is quite confusing here with two flights so close to each other...
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): My 6th experience with the CR2 and the first time on a EC registered example.
Good to see you still flying one of these small regional jets - they are getting rare in Europe. Now with Cimber Air gone my options for catching one over here seem to be quite limited.
Nice that there was still some service. It puzzles me though why they didn't do this on the outbound leg? The CRK too large to have time to serve anybody?
Hmm, that looks quite okay, not sure about the offerings though. But did it have wifi - this is something I strongly dislike about the Spanish lounges - everywhere it is just the Telefonica monopoly and hardly any lounges offer free wifi.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): I´am sure, definitely, till I browse the "Destinations and Planes" log and finally see that exactly this example brought me from ZRH to FCO two years ago. No, I´am not amused
Ahh, but this happens every now and then. At least it was only your second - I've flown quite a few of the Finnco*cough*flyBE Nordic ATRs and BT Fokker 50s well over ten times...
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): The plane is registered with an medical emergency priority descent on the very same route a couple of weeks ago
Now that could be a bad omen - but I guess lighting doesn't strike twice...
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): "Guten Appetit", thank you, together with free drinks and the lovely chocolate later on
That looks quite good. Although not sure about the "made today" boast on the wrapper.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): A good couple of more minutes later and also a bus transfer shows me this bird with definitely two engines to much than the scheduled A319.
The whole hassle doesn't sound very Swiss to me - not organized at all.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Boarding ex ZRH for the final leg today is at 7.25 pm and I´am still sitting at GVA with 6.50 pm as shown on my camera.
Now that kind of moments certainly can put the sweat on you and cause some anxiety.
But there's still a later flight to STR, isn't there?
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): decided to keep the unlucky LCY bound passengers for more delay and capture this Avro instead.
Creative thinking from Swiss, although I guess there were a lot of suits on that City flight so they might be less than amused about the additional delay. But then again with they sitting in the lounge, downing the free booze maybe they don't care that much.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): 7.35 pm, 30 minutes late and also 10 minutes after scheduled boarding for the next flight. 10 degrees and cloudy here.
A bit of a difference to Almeria!
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): But today I´am the lucky fellow with exactly my delayed inbound service is also on the same machine running delayed for my final leg today.
Congrats! Shame about missing a new reg, but I guess the fact that you made the connection was more important this time. I've done a few same plane connections (and I'm not talking about turnarounds) - they are always a bit surreal.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): The complete crew has changed, one middle aged nice male together with one young nice female FA in the cabin.
Ahh, that is a shame. Nothing like re-entering the same plane you left a bit earlier and greeting the same crew again .
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Touchdown at STR´s zero-seven, 9.00 pm, 20 minutes late, 11 degrees and clear sky.
Hey, in the end not bad at all. At least the folks in ZRH seem to be organized and efficient. And I guess it also shows how padded those schedules really are...

Hey, good to see more comments.

Another nice episode from your hand! You’re a brave man, wanting to fly some IB stuff, but then again, Air Nostrum is just that little bit different in a more positive way. The Swiss flights are very much to my liking, you know I did a Swiss round some time ago You were very lucky with the handling of the delays!
Thank you and sure my opinion with LX.

This wall is probably 600 m iso 6000 km long
I should check it for myself, definitely.

It does indeed, lost of shiny metal and ugly marble floors.
Exactly my impression, yu know.

With you speaking a word or 2 German, you might have explained the situation to your fellow citizens in need
Good point here.
Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):
To say the least, yes. They are nearly falling apart!
Well used, for sure.
Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):
You can call it a Ryanair-esque type of fare but definitely a better airline with Swiss involved.
Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21): heard they are on strike 2 days a week until July. Really bad for all passengers who hold a IB ticket.
As far as I read they found a solution.
Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):
You actually managed to get an apron shot at GVA
Sure!.
Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):
Your portion of good luck for the day. Kudos to Swiss for making that happen
Lucky me, I know.

Thank you and why do you go the direct way when you go this way. And I know you´re answer!.
Quoting FlyingFinn76 (Reply 22):
Very nice and tranquil. Reminds me of Algeceiras where I went last year.
Good point with Algeciras.
Quoting FlyingFinn76 (Reply 22): And Ezy - is there any airport in Spain where they *don't* fly to? Ok, I guess FR beats them in this regard.
How early were you up at the castle? You made it airport in time for your 10 AM flight and all? Ever heard of "sleeping in"?
Orange everywhere.
Sleeping, something for me when I´am going older!. I´am running tight with the airport bus, but finally it works this way. No breakfast for me at the hotel and up as soon as it opened. No one else around than me!.
Quoting FlyingFinn76 (Reply 22):

Cimber runs on SK schedules further on, as far as I know.

You never know these days especially with IB/AZ and so on!.

Not that really LX style, very short notice.

It is, but with the next days early departure I´am not amused about it to take the later flight.
