The -535E4-C-37 engine is similar to the -535E4-B-37, but it incorporates various modifications to
permit a takeoff "bump" rating at a range of ambient conditions at an altitude of 620 ft., for better T/O performance, especially at low level conditions. The -535E4-C-37 was added to TCDS on June 22, 2001.

RB211-535E4-B-37 Max T/O thrust :
ISA+10o at sea level, linear
variation between ISA+10oC and ISA+13.9oC between sea level and
4,000 ft, ISA +13.9ºC between 4,000ft and 10,000ft, linear variation

RB211-535E4-C-37 Max T/O thrust :
ISA +12.5ºC at sea level, linear variation between ISA +12.5ºC and
ISA +16.2ºC between sea level and 420ft, ISA + 16.2ºC between
420ft and 820ft, linear variation between ISA +16.2ºC and ISA
+12.9ºC between 820ft and 1,200ft, linear variation between ISA
+12.9ºC and ISA +13.9ºC between 1,200ft and 4,000ft, ISA
+13.9ºC between 4,000ft and 10,000ft, linear variation between ISA
+13.9ºC and ISA +20ºC between 10,000ft and 12,500ft, ISA +20ºC
between 12,500ft and 15,000ft.

The -535E4C was developed for ATA-American Trans Air and used exclusively on their then 12 757-33Ns that started being delivered in August 2001. Greater performance was needed to optimally operate the 757-300 out of Chicago Midway airport MDW. Once ATA filed bankruptcy in October 2004 and the remaining 757-300s started being used for charter only, I believe they were derated and intermixed with E4Bs. Now that UA (CO) has taken over all 12 -33Ns, I believe the E4Cs are no longer maintained or used on these aircraft at all as the extra performance is not needed.

Then why did RR stop at the E4c & not upgrade further to maybe an E4D....was there no requirement.

I think you answered your question...there is basically no need for a further performance upgrade as the E4C was a special case in itself. Also, with the 757 out of production, there is no market.
