Have you ever flown on a plane of one airline that advertised for another?
For instance, a TWA jet with air brakes that advertise to the passengers, "Fly Swissair" ?
When a commercial aircraft changes hands sometimes certain calling cards from the former owner gets overlooked, like if they paint things on the flaps.

Well, parts of the wing that have an underside hidden for most of the flight sometimes have a message painted on them.
I heard of an 880 flown by an airline that was not Eastern Airlines. When the pilot applied the airbrakes (big peices of metal that flip upward)--there was a painted advertisment that said, "Fly Eastern" on the underside of it. The new owner repainted the jet but apparently didn't know of the ad on the airbrakes.

If an airline forgets to paint out a plug for the airline that sold them the plane--then one airline can advertise for another.
