I looked at the flights between ATL & MCO and noticed that Delta offers and enormous amount of seats between the two cities and was wondering if there are simlar exmaples out there....(this is accurate for October 1'st, 2000)

B727-200 - ~149 Seats
B767-300 - ~252 Seats
B767-300 - ~252 Seats
MD11 - ~260 Seats

B767-300 - ~252 Seats
MD88 - ~150 Seats
B777-200 - ~277 Seats
B727-200 - ~149 Seats
B767-400 - ~287 Seats
B767-300 - ~252 Seats
B767-300 - ~252 Seats
B767-400 - ~287 Seats
B757-200 - ~182 Seats
B757-200 - ~182 Seats

That is a total of approximately 3737 Seats one way (from ATL to MCO); I heard that some domestic Japanese routes are mainly flown with B747SR aircraft; how many seats do they offer.

Well, Southwest offers 36 daily flights HOU-DAL and 33 daily flights DAL-HOU. Not to mention 7 additional daily flights IAH-DAL.

The 36 daily HOU-DAL flights would mean 4392 to 4932 seats (depending on whether the flight uses a 732, 733, 735, or 73G). And the IAH frequencies mean an additional 800-900 seats. Not to mention that they also compete with AA and CO on that route.

United also has 29 daily flights LAX-SFO (all 733 and 735's), so that works out to be close to 4000 seats - not to mention LAX-OAK, LAX-SJC, SFO-BUR, SFO-SNA, SFO-ONT.

Southwest has almost 100 flights total on the Bay Area-LA Basin (97, I think) routes - i.e. OAK-LAX,SNA,BUR,ONT and SJC-LAX,SNA,BUR,ONT.

I beleive the most people per day is between Tokyo and Saporro in Japan.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

The flights are operated by a mixture of 747's, 767's, 777's, AB6's and M90's.

I think Ansett is doing pretty well here.

MEL-SYD.

3 A320s
7 B733s
18 B762s
1 B763

Total, 5298 seats, in one direction. Return would be roughly double, so that's 10,500 seats. Doing pretty well. (weekday services).

This is one of the worlds most travelled routes apparently. Not bad for travel between cities of 3 & 4 million people respectively.

Cheers,

Justin

I think the most heavily traveled route in the world is Tokyo to Sapparo Japan. I don't have the exact numbers available, perhaos someone else does.

Also, TPE - HKG is a very heavily traveled artery.

Jim
