Well let's not hope they re-launch the birds in situ, otherwise all the money would have been spent in vain pepping them up to have them be splattered on a windshield or by a prop

Good taxpayer money at work .
Seriously, America treats its animals better than their children, bird hospital? WTF, millions of people have no healthcare and they are building a bird hospital? give me a break.
I lived in a building called Lake Point Tower.....my condo faced east and south...
back when Meigs was operating, planes would always take off towards the building, every now and then, one would look like it was going to hit straight into my condo..... simply amazing!

Step 1: close down Meigs Field...
Step 2: Have Mr. Trump come to the city to build...
Step 3: Have Mr. Trump build casino's on runway 13 and a parking lot on runway 36.
I see step 3 happening pretty soon, and maybe a 3rd airport.....

Don't be surprised if sometimes soon, in the dark of night, Daley sends bulldozers in to eradicate the bird hospital in the name of national security.

Many types of birds are endangered and get caught up in things that man make or creates. Therefore, its only reasonable that they get helped and rehabilitated by the specie that caused the problem. If millions of people have no healthcare, then they can get off their welfare asses and get a job. I would rather see my taxpayer dollars go to ecological and environmental safety than to prop up a crackwhore who is too lazy to take care of her 3 crackbabies.

That's not how it works. There are untold numbers of hardworking people out there who simply can't afford their own health insurance and their employer can not afford to provide it for them.
One reason for troubles with companies like UA, NW, DL, Ford, GM, Dana, and every other company across this country is a rise in health care coverage for their employees. Granted that is only one problem of many but it is definitely a major problem.
As far as Meigs goes, Daly saw it as a terrorist threat. I wonder what will happen if one of the birds at the new bird hospital turns up with the bird flu or westnile virous.
Taking that airport the way he did was wrong. I am very fortunate that I got the opportunity fly in and out of there as a pilot. I wish it was still there. So many other cities have airports located downtown in close proximity to their tall buildings, why wasn't there a push to close all of those airports down.
